England Beat Denmark 1-0 in Women's World Cup

Lauren James' Stunning Strike Puts Lionesses on the Brink of Last 16

England continued their winning start to the Women's World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Denmark in Perth on Tuesday.

Lauren James, making her first start in the tournament, scored the only goal of the game in the first half, firing a low shot from just outside the penalty area into the far corner.

The win moves England to the top of Group D with six points from two games, while Denmark remain on three points after their opening draw with China. The Lionesses will now face Japan in their final group game on Saturday, knowing that a point will be enough to secure their place in the knockout stages.

Denmark started the match brightly and had a few chances in the opening minutes, but England gradually grew into the game and began to assert their dominance.

James' goal gave them the lead in the 22nd minute, and they could have doubled their advantage shortly afterwards when Alessia Russo hit the crossbar with a header.

Denmark pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but England's defense held firm, with goalkeeper Mary Earps making a number of good saves.

The win is a major boost for England, who are looking to improve on their semi-final finish at the 2019 World Cup.
